Scheidt & Bachmann Slovensko

We are the largest subsidiary of Scheidt & Bachmann in the world. We have been growing in Žilina since 1995 thanks to our cooperation with the University of Žilina. From a 2-person student start-up, we have become the software company that employs the most IT specialists in the Žilina region. However, our software teams also operate in Bratislava and Košice. In addition, we also have our own production in Bytča, where the designed software comes to life in the manufactured hardware.

Our 700+ colleagues work on projects that make sense. We develop, manufacture and service across 4 divisions of Scheidt & Bachmann and its customers.

We are constantly expanding our teams, who enjoy the family atmosphere and great teamwork. Innovation is deeply rooted in our corporate DNA. We work tirelessly every day to ensure that people around the world have  exceptional travel experiences.

SLOVAK HISTORY – 1990 UNTIL TODAY

/ 1990

From meeting to cooperation

In March 1990, the 1st Railway Conference after the opening of the borders took place in Dresden. Representatives of Scheidt & Bachmann – Heinz Laumen, Major General Konrad Manthey and Dr. h.c. Gert Miller (CEO) get to know Prof. Ing. Ladislav Skýva, DrSc., who represents the University of Žilina at the conference. Subsequently, they begin to communicate intensively, make reciprocal visits and establish close cooperation, which resulted in the establishment of the Slovak company Dopravné systémy Scheidt & Bachmann s.r.o. in 1995.

Establishment of a branch

The first employees of company Dopravné systémy Scheidt & Bachmann s.r.o. are two university graduates who wrote their diploma theses in Mönchengladbach. Their first office was a converted cloakroom in the premises of the University of Žilina. Ing. Róbert Kulla and Ing. Ján Krúpa are still the Managing Directors of the Slovak branch, and the intensive cooperation between the company and the University of Žilina continues till these days.

/ 1998

Branch expansion

We expand the number of software employees and divisions. In addition to software development for the Signalling Systems division, development for the Parking Solutions and Fare Collection Systems divisions is also started.

/ 2000

Moving in-house

We move from the University of Žilina to our own building on Priemyselna Street in Žilina, which is dominated by a brick building that can still be found there today.

/ 2002

Another software division

We also start software development for the last division of Scheidt & Bachmann in Slovakia – Fuel Retail Solutions. Now it is Energy Retail Solutions.

/ 2005

Opening of production

We built another building on the premises at Priemyselna Street – a production hall. A part of production  of components and equipment for customers all over the world is transferred from Germany. We already have more than 100 employees.

/ 2010

Name change

To strengthen the brand, we changed the company name to Scheidt & Bachmann Slovensko.

/ 2012

Expansion of production

We knocked down the foundation stones of new buildings to expand our production facilities. One of the most beautiful industrial sites in the entire region was brought up to its current size.

/ 2015

New branches

We have outgrown our premises on Priemyselna Street and so colleagues from the Fare Collection Systems software division had to move out.  At the same time we are opening our first branch outside of Žilina. Our software team can now be found in Bratislava, too. We are also expanding our production capacities and the number of our employees has risen to 550.

/ 2020

Production in Bytča

The production capacities in Žilina are not enough again and so our production moves to a new ecological production hall in Bytča at the beginning of the year. A modern plant with an area of 9,000 m2 has been built on a plot of 35,000 m2. Another 2,500 m2 of office space and sanitary facilities.

/ 2023

Opening and closing the IT centre

We converted a former production hall on Priemyselna Street in Žilina into a modern software and testing centre. Colleagues from the Parking Solutions and Fare Colection Systems divisions, who had been working at various locations within Žilina, moved there. Finally we have all our development teams under one roof. However, it won't take long. On the 16th of October, a fire swept through the IT centre and destroyed it. Reconstruction starts again and the teams move again. We also open a software branch in Košice.

/ Today

We are still growing

We are the largest employer of IT professionals in Žilina. We continue to expand our development, service, electrical engineering, manufacturing and logistics teams as well as our portfolio of products and services. We are proud of how well the German know-how works in the hands of skilled Slovak employees. At the end of our journey is a common goal – satisfied employees and customer all over the world.
